WhatsApp Web soon to get Messenger Rooms, which allows 50 person video calls: Report

Most popular chatting app WhatsApp is bringing Messenger Rooms shortcut to WhatsApp Web. WhatsApp owned by Facebook Inc. is working on a feature to add Messenger Rooms shortcut to WhatsApp Web which allow upto 50 people to join a video call session. Facebook launched Messenger Rooms last month where users can start a video call session with upto 50 people.

And now WABetaInfo said, “WhatsApp is working to add Messenger Rooms Shortcuts in the 2.2019.6 Web update. Those shortcuts aren’t rolled out yet for everyone, but we can show you how they are!”

Shortcut to Messenger Rooms spotted in WABetaInfo and beta version of WhatsApp android app, and that is a proof that Facebook is working on this feature.

It is said that the shortcut link to Messenger Rooms will be available in a group chat paper clip menu option where the Photos & Videos, Camera, Documents, and contacts are available. When the user clicks on the Messenger Rooms shortcut, it will ask the user to continue in Messenger. ‘Create a room’ option will also be available in the main menu on WhatsApp Web.

The feature doesn’t actually work yet, as it’s still in development – Beta stage. Facebook Messenger Rooms allow users to create a chat room and start a video call where participants can join via an invitation link without having a Facebook account.

To take on Zoom, Facebook is working on this feature on WhatsApp Web and planning to integrate the same in Instagram too.

Not only Facebook but other tech giants have also stepped in to offer video conferencing service in the last few months. As the whole world is dealing with pandemic, people working from home and using video conferencing services to communicate.
